Goodness. I knew her litter had food drive but this is ridiculous!

This dog eats EVERYTHING. She spent the first 3 days we had our Christmas tree running over and trying to eat the branches, literally shoving her head in and munching like a deer. After I trained her to leave the tree alone, she'd still find random one-inch pieces of tree or just needles on the floor and eat them if I didn't stop her. If anyone leaves a Kleenex, paper towel, piece of paper around, she will eat it. She tries to grab papers off desks and eat them. She ate my son's homework. She tried to eat the garland. She likes to shred plush toys and eat the middles (of course I stop her, but she tries and occasionally swallows a bite before I see it). She tries to eat sticks and bark on walks and if I let her out of my sight during a potty break she will eat her own poop! I have to potty her on leash and then she doesn't try it.

This morning she ate some fake flowers made of fabric. She picked them off the plastic stems and ate them! I swear if I gave her a bowl of pebbles for dinner she would scarf it down!

I don't suppose there is anything I can do except watch her and tell her leave it, but there is no way I can leave her uncrated at night or while I go out because she would eat the house. I am just glad I have health insurance for her in case of a blockage. This is crazy!

Did the teacher believe you?

Sorry could not help but laugh but I imagine it really may not be that funny. Hopefully she will eventually mature out of it and I guess all you can do is supervise, manage and train a really good leave it!

I feel your pain!!

Siren was the exact same way!!! Luckily, once she reached about 2yo, the constant need to eat literally EVERYTHING subsided quite a bit. Thank god she had never been one to eat her own poop!!! She has a thing against dog poop, it is YUCKY and she doesn't even want to walk close to it.

But rabbit, deer, cow, bird, ect..... Poop it for eating.
She only kills her toys now if the squeaker gives out. Once the toy no longer squeeks, she removes the squeeker. But she doesn't eat it.

She is also fine being left alone loose. Though I refused to try it when she was younger.

So maybe in another year or so, Sabre won't be so bad.

I have 6 dogs and i found the rawhide wrapped with color laces of rawhide around it and none of them (knock on wood) have ate anything in my house yet And they are all indoor dogs. It takes them hours to unwide the rawhide.I have one that will fall asleep with it in his mouth. My dogs range from 5 yrs old - 13 weeks(gsd)

Shane eats everything, too. He's almost 3 years old and he's still a turd about eating stuff, ESPECIALLY paper products!

Caleb had a thing for cardboard until he was about 2. He seems to have gotten over it now. He wouldn't eat it, just shred up the box and scatter the remains all around the house.

Oh yes, cardboard too. My poor son and his calculus paper! I told him, "the teacher won't believe you!"

sabrina, that laced rawhide sounds interesting. Where do you find them? I buy big, 12", rolled rawhides (made in USA) and Saber can eat the whole thing in about 30-40 minutes. I do take away the last 2 inches so she won't choke on it. A thick 12" long bully stick lasts 20 minutes. Himalayan chews last awhile though.

I don't think I'd give rawhide...that can cause a blockage itself.
Have you tried antler chews? I wonder if switching to a raw diet would help curb her urge to eat constantly. Those himalayan chews didn't last long at all for my dogs, I was hoping they would for the cost of them.
Karlo was munching on my Christmas tree the other night, I wondered what the heck he was doing as he never eats inappropriate stuff!
Though the other night we came home and *someone* ate a whole cherry almond coffee cake that was sitting waay back on the counter. My dogs never counter surf~I leave bags of chips/crackers in a basket that they could access if they wanted to.
I was surprised they went for the cake! A first, hopefully a last.

Yep, got one of those - Halo is 3 and she'll STILL eat practically anything! Strangely, she's left the tree totally alone. Probably because it's just too easy with all those ornaments hanging there within reach. The girl likes a challenge! Paper towels, kleenex, TP (eats it in chunks, right off the roll), bills and receipts (she got ahold of a large check from one of our clients out of the mail, fortunately I got it away from her with the envelope a little damp and the check intact), none of them are safe. She shreds toys but thank goodness she spits out the innards rather than swallow them, she's eaten numerous earplugs that she gets off the night table when I forget to put the little box away in the morning (one day she pooped out 9 bright orange earplugs in one fell swoop!!!), the remotes, eyeglasses, potholders, the dishtowel, she's stolen knives off the kitchen counter..... If there was homework in this house it would definitely not be safe!

Oh, and poop - yes, both hers and Keefer's. So, um, sorry - no help from here, lol!

Jane, I'd love to feed raw. I just feel like I don't know how to do it right, don't have the brainpower to figure that out right now, and not sure if I could afford it (compared to TOTW, not sure how much more raw would be). Plus the whole ick factor with having little kids around a dog who has raw germs on her mouth/paws.

OMG - do I feel for you! It's downright scary to think how she could hurt herself! I wish you *tons* of luck and patience wtih this girl!

Saber you naughty girl! I must admit I'm finding Cooper a handful in that way compared to Molly, I've never had a poop eater or a dog attack the rubbish bin before

Boo auctions has the shoes with laces and several others.I got the Christmas candy canes at petsmart. And with 6 dogs i havent had any problems with them chewing the rawhide. I just make sure that if the piece gets small to take it away. Everything else they demolish too quickly. Then get bored and then my house is fair game
