Shortly after Aodhán died, DH told me he didn't want to wait very long to get another dog. So I told him I would check out a breeder that owns a female from Amsel von Ravenwood - Aodhán's breeder, who isn't breeding anymore.

Well, when I went to her website to see if I could find out if she was planning on brreding Chloe any time soon- I find that Chloe was already expecting with pups due Oct 29. Never saw an announcement that she was being bred any other time I've been on the website. I told DH it felt like Aodhán sent me there that day.

They'll be ready to go home right around Christmas and we'll be bringing this little girl home a day or so after Christmas - Warner's Ciara von Hena-C. DH picked the "W" name and I picked her call name.










Chloe and her girls - the littler was 2 females and 5 males. We got first pick of the girls.


Now I see what people who have black dogs mean about how hard they are to photograph.

Just in case anyone is wondering - Ciara is pronounced "Kee-ra", a Celtic name usually meaning dark and mysterious.

Of the 2 girls, she seemed a bit more mellow and laid back, although I know it's a little early in the personality development, but she sure was a cuddly little girl.

Congratulations! Wiggling furry things are hard to photograph. But for a better shot of a black one, perhaps the person holding it could wear a light colored sweater.

Next time I will. That shot was actually a capture from video that my DH was taking while we were looking at the dogs & talking with the breeder, which isn't quite as clear as an actual photo would have been.

My other choice was Caoimhe, which means gentle, beautiful, or precious. Care to guess how that one is pronounced? The Celtic language is a challenge when it comes to spelling and pronunciation.

"Kam-ee"?

The answer is ..... Kee-va

Don't ask my how they get the ee sound. Supposedly the first 2 vowels in the spelling are silent but tell you how to pronouce the "i" and they use mh to make a "v" or "w" sound because there's no V or W in their alphabet.

how funny. very pretty name, if you ever do akc though put her call name like that Kee-va or they will not say it right. i had a horse whose name was hearty.... she was an appy with heart shaped spots...but at shows they would call her hardee- like the burger place. so i started writing her name like this on entry forms heart-tee ... then it would be announced correctly.

That's what my grandson said. He went with us to see them and he said it was hard to decide which one. We got a good laugh over that.

And we've been thinking of applying to be fosters with GSRNE - so that would make the third dog. Don't have the room to handle more than that at a time

I'm not that fussy about the color. I would have been happy with a sable or a black/red as long as the temperament was right for us. But the 2 girls in the litter took after Mom.

There's another planned breeding for later this year using Evo as the Sire. Remind you of anyone?

I might have been interested in that breeding if neither of the Chloe's girls seemed the right temperament for us. But Ciara seems really sweet and mellow and her Mom is certainly a sweet heart of a dog.

Fortunately, I'm taking 2 weeks vacation so won't have to worry about getting up at the crack of dawn (or before right now). And DH is pretty good about getting up to take out the young one during the night (he's a lighter sleeper than I am)- at least that's how it worked for Caleb.

Picked up some new toys the other night and a nice purple collar for her. I think it'll look good against the black fur. Can't wait for the puppy zoomies to begin.

Camera is loaded with fresh batteries and I'm packing spares!

Technically, the pups are ready to go home as of tomorrow. We'd be heading up to pick her up on Saturday if it wasn't a holiday. No way, I'd bring her home and have the family "mob" descend on her on Christmas day.

Tyler is also excited. I guess he's been talking about it a lot with his mom. He's going up with us to pick her up and then will probably spend a few days at our house so they can get to know one another.

We've even been telling Caleb that Ciara will be here soon to get him used to hearing the name. He just looks at me like "What's a Ciara? - throw my ball now.

A bright new beginning in bringing home warm, snugglicious Miss Puppy Breaff Ciara! Tyler and Caleb will be delighted with the little fuzzy girl and her wiggles, I am sure! I can hardly waqit to see her pictures, Johanna. Got the puppy crate all set up, new toys, and boots by the door for those 3am tinklefests? I am so HAPPY for you and DH!!
