I have a couple of open months on the Second or Mix Calendar so I thought It would be nice to Spotlight some of the great Rescue Stories with a few pictures.

I can put a couple of pictures per month and I can make room for 2 or 3 months. Please post some pictures here of dogs that are family members or foster members and a few lines about them.

I know for sure we need Cheyenne, some of Jean's crew and others.

You can do before/after, what every you would like.

Is the calendar that Rafi is already in? I have before and after pictures of him.

I had Bella at the vet yesterday (she's good/I'm crazy) and Bruno. Sometimes I just sit and marvel at how wonderful she is. And all the while she's being appropriate and obedient and perfect, there's Bruno, getting all Napolean, barking and begging about 10 treats from all his GFs at the vet. Bella is my sanity, and they are like these rowdy little weirdos swirling around her! So let me know if you want any loon in particular.

Ruth, This is the one that Rafi is in as the winner of the Fantastic Fall winner. If you want to do a Before After pics that is good.

I don't expect these to make your calendar, but I love the idea of before and after idea.

I'm not a rescue person but couldn't leave this little guy, Buddy, dodging traffic on a busy road. Had to lure him to my house dropping pieces of kibble along the way. He was too frightened to let anyone near him. I lured him into a gated area of my yard and worked for days and days to get him to take food from me.

He was soo skinny and had obviously been treated badly.

Soon he was learning to wag and play ball. Smart little dickens.

Then, horrors of horrors, trying to find a home for a mix that looks mostly and probably is, a Pit Bull.

Fast forward. Found him a wonderful forever home and he's happily living on several acres in the care of an elderly couple.

Love happily ever after stories!

Risa is the project I never expected to have. I wanted a dog to compete in dog sports with. I got a dog who was fearful in new locations, terrified of people, and afraid of other dogs. I never let go of our dream of competing but I often wondered if it would ever happen. We had so much work to do!

We started off in video competitions where we could perform without the stress of live competition. It took 4 long years before she was finally ready to enter the ring in a normal trial. In a little over a year's time, she has earned titles in 3 different dog sports. I'm so proud of her for being able to overcome many of her fears and learn to trust me so that we could enjoy competing as a team.

Come on guys, I want to highlight some rescue's.

[Val--I put this together quickly. I have so many incredible photos of Rafi but just grabbed these]. Someone dumped Rafi on a very busy road in a rural area near Cincinnati. Apparently he went from house to house trying to get someone to let him in. Finally a really nice guy started feed him, Rafi broke through the screen door to get into the guy's house and settled in as his foster dog. Rafi was emaciated, covered in fleas and his skin was black. Here he is a little while after breaking into his foster home.



Rafi was an instant fit for my household. He is a total joy to live with. A crazy malinois for sure but I can't imagine life without him!






And doing what he loves the most: playing...any time of year!
