My friend recently lost her female GSD and is starting her search for another. She is looking for breeders in the NY-PA area. She is looking for a working line GSD puppy. One that has great temperament, good on/off switch, and one that has enough drive to do narcotics work but at the same time not chase and eat hers cats at home.
Personality/temperament is her #1 priority. I know most good breeders choose the puppy best fit but she needs a female as she already has a male GSD, who is intact, who isn't the greatest with other male dogs. Color really isn't an issue, as long as its not a sable (unless it will be dark) or a traditional blk/tan saddle back.
Parents need to be OFA certified, family raised, and have titles etc.
Wants a breeder in driving distance as she wants to be able to drive and meet the breeder in person as well as meet the breeders dogs.
If anyone has any breeders that are in these states, please post. If anyone has questions for her, let me know.

Well- I may have pups soon - not 100% sure! Hexe (sire is a Sch3, LE K9, and has siblings on both sides who are LE dogs) is bred and due in 4ish weeks....Csabre is bred to a wonderful Czech (born, but half Belgian) male who is in Buffalo...her littermate is a State LE dog in Vermont and a narcotics dog as well...both females are OFA Good/Normal, Koer Class 1, and have good pigment...but most of my pups will be sables....

There are well bred gsds in Buffalo? They must keep them under lock and key. All I see around here are giant black and tan gsds who give roach back new meaning.

LOL LOL LOL Believe it or not, there is a really really really nice stud dog in Amherst! Gaston Galan Naleg...all his titles earned in the Czech Republic...his owner offered him as a breeding partner for Csabre when I did her koer. When I saw his pedigree, I was really surprised because it was so nice! Also, two Basha sons live in Buffalo! Errow who is titled in Schutzhund and is a Flyball champion, and Fyurie, trained for narcotics and trailing...also a Flyball champion. And my new pup, Panther (Ziberia altern Wingertshaus) is with Errow's owner right now.

Hexe is bred to Nick del Lupo Nero....they should make very nice pups! Both Hexe and Csabre are house dogs, and Csabre lives with my cats quite well.

I will keep my eyes peeled for more well bred gsds. I have seen some nice looking rescues. And people tell me that Rafi is a "really nice looking german shepherd puppy."

There are a couple of nice looking working gsds and one real nice working mal but let me tell you, we are overrun with the byb specials around here.

I know Errow & Fyurie. Both are great dogs! I have seen them compete in Flyball. I am sure Trish is enjoying her time with Panther!

I agree about this area. Deb Zappia is the only person in the Buf-Roc-Syr area that I think is a good breeder. Kinda sad!

I've seen a zillion of her dogs, and like them. However, I do not believe she'll be doing a breeding any time soon.

Ruth, I am pretty sure Fyurie was with us that day at the park on GI. The big black dog, but we also had Basha with us that day, the mother of both boys. We should go for a hike at Hunter's Creek in E. Aurora. Ever go there? Great hiking and there are pools the dogs can swim in!

Yes, that is the event. Actually went to Hunter's Creek for the first time about a month ago. Errow had a great time. Meet up with a friend and we did a bunch of caches at the North side that hardly anyone visits.

I didn't know you did pet sitting, Trish! We are looking for a new pet sitter--ours moved away. I have some friends who love to stay with Cleo and also love Rafi but he doesn't get enough exercise when they stay with him so I always just end up taking him with me (which isn't always possible).

I am in the Buffalo area. Worked for VIP for a few years part time, but I am not an official employee any more. My dogs just take up too much time in addition to work and some online classes. I did do a spot fill in for a job the past couple of weekends for a favor as the owner was really short sitters. I would be game this Monday for something. I work until about 3ish.

Not sure if your friend found a breeder yet and what their timeline is, but Deb Z's business partner will be breeding her girl Nike this winter (http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=575353). Jody is really knowledgable and Nike will be going for her SchH 1 in 2 weeks at the club's fall trial (if your friend wanted to make the trekk to Rochester to see her).

No, she has not chosen a breeder yet. She is really unsure of what she wants to do, as she wants to make sure she chooses the right thing and doesn't make a "jump the gun" type of decision.
She is kind of afraid, I guess we could say, about going to a breeder she has never dealt with before and doesn't know if she wants to venture away from the breeder she has always dealt with and the lines her other GSD was. I have told her how highly recommended the breeders are on the list I gave her.
Time will tell, I guess. We'll see...
