The time has come when paige's back legs have gone completely. She has fun with short walks in the wheelchair but fell twice today because her front is getting weak.She is in too much pain to keep alive anymore so I think I am doing this Tues AM. My vet will give her a serious sedative before I bring her in so she will be unconscious.Life sure will be different. I have been mourning her death for a month now...and it is time I actually let go. 13 years sure does fly by.

It's a hard choice. She had a good life with you, the wheel chair gave her a bit more of that good time. One way to keep life with my not quite 2 yo in perspective is remembering how hard the aging can get and how fast the years go. Sometimes it helps me to recount to the dog just how greatly I appreciate sharing his/her life. I know you will find what works for you these last couple of days.

Your kindness in understanding and in helping her to fly free shows your incredible love and compassion. You are doing the kindest thing. An amazing spirit is Paige, she will always be remembered for her fire, legendary toughness, and the impact her stories have had on us here. We love you Suzy, we are here for you.

I am so glad Paige had this last week to enjoy one more burst of freedom in her wheelchair.

Paige had a full and good life with you and you certainly made it a long and good one for her.

Suzy, so sorry for the pain and loss of such a wonderful Paige, Here is a peom my friend sent to me when it was time to put my Rex to rest. I feel your sorrow.

Weep not for me though I am gone. Grieve if will, but not for long, upon my soul's flight. I am at peace and my soul is at rest, there is no need for tears, For with your Love I was so blessed for all those many years. There is no pain, I suffer not, and the fear now is gone. Put now these things out of your thoughts, In your Memory I Live on. Remember not my fight for breath, remember not my strife. Please do not dwell upon my death, But celebrate our Times and Love we had together.

I am so very sorry

you guys...Paige has been fighting death all night,so stubborn. I gave her a sedative, waiting for my boyfriend to call me. She was born on Halloween and she is going out with a bang on July fourth. Thank you everyone for all the wonderful years you all have spent with the indominable Paige.
