Yes, the ubiquitous puppy weight thread!

Had Riva at the vet today and she weighed 29 lbs. She will be 17 weeks old in two days. She gained 7 lbs. since her last vet check 4 weeks ago.

Was wondering how that compares to everyone else?

She's my first female GSD puppy, had Rio and Cooper as puppies but they are both over-sized males especially Cooper, so I have nothing to compare against.

Mason- Male- 41lbs @ 17 weeks old

At 17 weeks Saber weighed 33 pounds. She is almost 5 months now and is 41 pounds.

17 weeks Molly weighed 14.2 KG/31 pounds. She must have slowed down A LOT though as now at 17 months she is 55 pounds.

At almost 18 weeks old Ella weighed 38lbs. She's seven months old today and when she was at the vet Tuesday, weighed 56lbs.

Wish I could remember more - Caleb was 19 pounds at 9 weeks when we got him - a roly poly lillte bear. He may have been around 35-40 at 17 weeks, I don't remember.

The pups had their one month checkup Thursday. The largest male was 5 lbs 14 oz. and the smallest little girl was 4 lbs and 7 oz. The vet deemed them a healthy bunch. Is this a good range?

Thanks for all of the replies. Riva is so petite right now that it will be interesting to see how she turns out. Her breeder's females tend to be on the small end of standard ~55 cm, although her dam is one of his larger females at 59 cm. We shall see what happens!

Major is 14 weeks this past monday and weighs 29.5 pounds as of this week. We go back to the vet for the next set of shots Friday.

He is 1 year 3 weeks old now, and weighs 77lbs

Based on the weights I've seen posted, Max isn't a GSD, he's a moose
He's been steadily following a formula: #months x 10 + 10 = weight.
So he was 60 lbs at 5 mo, 70 lbs at 6 mo. He's due for a weigh-in but he'll probably hit 80 or close to it.

Major is now 17 weeks and is 44 lbs and growing.

Recon at 17 weeks weighed 42lbs

Riva is now 24 weeks old and weighed 42 lbs. today. She's about 19.5" tall.

Saber's 6.5 months and 55 pounds. When do they stop growing? Is there a usual age for that?

Max is now almost 8 months and 78 lbs. I hope he stops growing soon.

Pan is 10 months in about a week and is 60.8 lbs.

Pike vom Geistwasser is just about 10 months old and weighed in 4 weeks ago at 70 lbs.

Thirteen months and 72 lbs lean.

Akela is a bit over 9,5 months and weighs 75 lbs. Hi is 26 inches, not a monster, but borderline out of standard.

Does this seem exceptionally tiny to anyone? To me he looks like a pipsqueak and I know he will be whatever size he grows into but it seems so little compared to others?

His dam is about Mollys size so I would guess 60#, not too sure about his sire.

Bianca, Riva was 9.6# at that age, (and she was the smallest of the litter - 8 girls) so he is a little smaller. But as you mentioned, I don't think weight really predicts much when they're that young.

Thank you for that info Sandy I looked through other threads and was thinking he's soooo tiny! There were 7 in his litter although one poor baby died

5 of the 6 pups were almost identical in size but 1 girl was a monster! And had attitude to match!

Slow growing is really not a bad thing. How big were Mom and Dad?

I've had some that were on the small side as puppies but ended up well within breed standard when they matured.

Caleb was close to 20 pounds (9 kg) at 9 weeks, but he weighs in today that almost 3 years old at about 79 pounds (~ 36 kg), which is perfect as far as I'm concerned.

Kopper was 9lb at 8 weeks old. Now he's 1 year and 75lb. I wouldn't worry much. Especially if he came from a big litter, it's natural that the puppies would be a bit smaller.

Siren weighed 12 lbs at 8 weeks. There were 10 in her litter. Of the 5 females in the litter she was in the middle size wise. There were 2 that were bigger than she was and 2 that were a little smaller.

Both parents are within the standard for size. Siren is now 3yo and is 26 inches tall and weighs 75 lbs. One of the females that was bigger than her as a baby is smaller than Siren is as an adult. (Both shorter and lighter.)

Thank you all, I do appreciate it. I know it doesn't matter what size he ends up it was just that I heard so many comments last night that he looks like a 4 week old.

Mum and Dad are within standard I believe. I haven't seen Dad, but Mum looked only a little bigger than Moo (so smallish).

Only 7 whelped but 1 didn't survive.

My vet thinks she may top out around 65 pounds based on where she is right now. Mom is 75#. I did some research into some of her grandmothers and they were in the 60-65 pound range.

And I see that she has 2 adult front teeth in as of this morning.

That's the same two that Ciara has now - top two front teeth. I see the gap beside the one on the left where she lost the tooth DH found on the floor yesterday. Sounds like we're running neck and neck on the teething.

Bianca - have you looked at Cooper's teeth. I wouldn't heve known if I wasn't messing with Ciara yesterday and looking at her teeth.

Got her and Caleb and nice meaty bones to chew on so she doesn't decide to chew on the furniture.

I think Cooper ia a very respectable size at 42.5# and 20 weeks old.

I don't mind Ciara's size, I rather like the idea of a 60-65 pound lap dog instead of a 75-80 pound one. DH has been calling her a toy dog lately.

As much because she gathers all the toys up and keeps them around her pillow in the family room and seems to love carrying a stuffed toy or ball in her mouth at all times.

Riva is 56 lbs. at 15 months. Would like to take 1-2 lbs. off for her upcoming shows. Guess this will be my last post in this thread - no longer a puppy!

We've been having issues with chronic diarrhea that we're working through so he's not gaining as quickly as he normaly would. Vet is not concerned at this point ... he prefers to see them on the leaner side.

He's definitely growing though ... getting tall and long.

We have had a few days of normal stools, so we're hoping he puts a few pounds on before his next vet check and vacinnations on May 10th.
