Oh no! That is heartbreaking. I hope that she can get spayed and someone will step up to foster her. I hate it when there is a date on the dog's life. I think it's hardest when they look or sound like your own dogs. And there is so much guilt for those of us who have fostered in the past but can't do it when a dog that really pulls at our heartstrings comes up. But then I think of all the other people who have never fostered and I think, "Why can't they take just one dog?" Because if everyone were willing to foster (and/or adopt) just one dog it would go a long way towards saving these dogs.

Oh, thank goodness. Maybe you can help them keep her or at least come up with a plan to make it easier for them to continue to foster her until she finds a home. Probably between the pannus and life change she feels the need to take charge and is making some bad decisions about appropriate behavior. Hopefully some advice from Jean and Bella will be just the thing they need.

So! Their person fell through and Mindy is at my vet office right now after picking her up this afternoon. It was that or a shelter. Not the place for an 8 yo GSD. She currently looks NOTHING like Bella! She could have been her in the picture! I do think they could be related though - I see a similarity in their heads. Not sure if you can have huge differences in structure in a litter - her body type is shorter, with the more downed pasterns. The BYB breeder lines Bella is from were I guess used quite a bit so they could be cousins or whatever it's called. She is a rough 8 though. Like Courtney Love rough (though I am guessing not for the same reasons)! She will stay at the vet until the people get back from vacation on Monday and we will go from there. She did really well when I dropped her off. They are going to check her eyes and stuff and I will go visit her on Friday and Saturday.

Ah - selective hearing. So good of you to help her. The santa picture gets me too. A good reminder for all of us to be sure who would take and care for our dogs if something happened to us.
Kudos to you for all you do!
